What we collect

When you book a tour

Your name, email address, phone number, the date and time of your tour, your group size, and the products and extras you choose.

When you pay

Payments are processed through our booking and payment providers. Where you pay a deposit and the balance falls due before your tour, your card is held securely by our booking platform so the balance can be charged. We never see or store your full card number — only the last four digits are visible to us, and only to managers and directors, who can process a payment without being able to view your card details. Cards are removed by our booking platform once they are no longer needed for your booking.

When you sign a waiver

Every rider completes a waiver before boarding. We collect the name, contact details and acknowledgements each rider provides, along with the date and time of completion.

When you contact us

Anything you send us through our contact, corporate enquiry, event space or careers forms, or by email, text or phone — including your name, contact details, and whatever you choose to tell us. Job applications may include your résumé and work history.

When you visit our venues

Our premises at HomeBase and Warehouse 16 are monitored by CCTV. We record footage for the safety and security of our guests and staff, to meet our obligations as a licensed venue, and to help resolve incidents or disputes. Footage is stored securely, access is limited to managers and directors, and recordings are overwritten in the ordinary course of operation unless they are needed for an incident, an insurance matter, or a request from police or a regulator.

When you browse our website

Information about your visit, including your IP address, browser and device, the pages you view, how you arrived at our site, and how you interact with our pages. See “Cookies and tracking” below.

Photographs and video

We take photographs and video during tours.

Cookies and tracking

Our website uses cookies and similar technologies, both our own and third parties’. Specifically:

  • Google Analytics — to understand how people use our site.
  • Google Ads — to measure our advertising and to show HandleBar ads to people who have visited our site.
  • Meta (Facebook and Instagram) pixel — to measure our advertising and to show HandleBar ads on Meta’s platforms to people who have visited our site.
  • Hotjar — records how visitors move through and interact with our pages, so we can see where our site is confusing or broken.

You can control cookies through your browser settings, and you can opt out of personalised advertising through Google’s Ads Settings and your Meta account settings. Some parts of our site may not work properly if you block cookies entirely.

Why we collect it

To take and manage your booking; to contact you about your tour; to take payment; to meet our obligations as a licensed venue, including confirming that riders are 18 or over; to run our tours and venues safely; to answer enquiries and handle lost property; to consider job applications; to improve our website and our service; to measure and target our advertising; to keep proper business records; and, where you have asked for it, to send you news and offers.

Who we share it with

We share personal information with the providers who help us run the business, including:

  • Rezdy — bookings and payments
  • Square — payment processing and pre-paid drinks
  • Google — our email and documents, website analytics, and advertising
  • Meta — advertising
  • Hotjar — website session analytics
  • Airtable — waiver and guest records
  • Make.com — automation between the systems above

We also disclose information where the law requires it, and to our professional advisers and insurers where necessary. We do not sell your personal information.

Overseas disclosure

Several of the providers listed above store or process information outside Australia, including in the United States. By using our website or making a booking, you consent to this disclosure. We take reasonable steps to use providers with appropriate data protection standards.

Marketing

If you have opted in, we may send you news and offers. Every marketing message includes an unsubscribe link, and you can opt out at any time by contacting us. Opting out will not affect messages we need to send you about a booking you have made.

Photographs and social media

We may use photographs and video taken during tours to promote HandleBar, including on Instagram and other social channels. If you would prefer not to appear, tell your driver at the start of your tour, or contact us afterwards and we will remove images that identify you where we reasonably can.

Children

Our tours are for adults — all riders must be 18 or over, and we check ID. Our website and services are not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If you believe we have, contact us and we will delete it.

Security and how long we keep it

We take reasonable steps to protect personal information from misuse, interference, loss and unauthorised access. Access to customer records is limited to staff who need it for their role.

We keep personal information only as long as we need it for the purposes described in this policy, or for as long as the law requires. Booking and financial records are kept for at least seven years to meet Australian tax and record-keeping requirements. Waivers are kept for as long as we need them to meet our legal and insurance obligations.

Accessing and correcting your information

You can ask for a copy of the personal information we hold about you, or ask us to correct it, by emailing info@handlebaradelaide.com. We will respond within a reasonable period, and we may need to verify your identity first. If we cannot give you what you have asked for, we will explain why in writing.

Complaints

If you think we have mishandled your personal information, email info@handlebaradelaide.com and we will investigate and respond within a reasonable period.

We may update this policy from time to time. The current version is always available on this page.
